ROCK THIS PARTY: John Paul & DAve Crespo's After Party This Friday!

This Friday, July 30th McGann's will be hosting F Nice Records' Rock This Party show!

The New England native singer/songwriter John Paul will be returning from LA to play this show. The fine city of Boston will welcome John Paul back as he plays songs off of his debut album, Belmont Boulevard.

Paul has been independently rising in the singer-songwriter scene as he has been Featured on KCAL9 (LA CBS affiliate) via Skipstone Productions' show "So Cal NOW!". Paul has also performed at the UCB Theater as a special guest musician and has brought large crowds to New York City, Boston, Portland (ME) and Los Angeles.

Also playing that night are Ice Cream Social and Lauren Bateman. Headlining the show is DAve Crespo's After Party! When the clock hits 12 midnight and the party is in its waning breath, DAve Crespo's After Party is just the cure for the second wind blues. The band formed in 2007 when Crespo decided to put a line up behind his acoustic efforts. DAve Crespo's After Party released their first record in 2009 appropriately titled, "DCAP."


The show starts at 9PM, Doors open at 8:30PM.

Luke James to play on The Boston Local Music Show tomorrow!

Tomorrow on The Boston Local Music Show (TBLMS), Luke James will be playing live on air!

Hosted by the always lovely DAve Crespo and the man who needs no introduction Dex Muthafukin Ter, TBLMS is dedicated to playing local music that you should already know about, but don't. This will be the second full band in-studio performance TBLMS has ever aired.

Luke James & the Locksteadies are straight out of Cambridge and its their fresh approach to rock music with diverse influences that makes the band hands-down awesome.

BEAR v. REGGAE July 22nd

Next Thursday (July 22), TT the Bears in Cambridge will be hosting our Bear v. Reggae show featuring Sour D and The Flo, two of our favorite local reggae acts along with The Release and Harbortown. Its a guaranteed night of funk and drunk.


Headlining the show is Sour D. Sour D hails from Reading, MA and has been gigging around the Boston area since early 2008. The band has covers ranging from artists like Rage Against the Machine to Sublime, mixed in creative original jams, Sour D will always give you something to dance to.

The Flo, self-described as experimental progressive rock fusion with a Kung-Fu Grip, will also be playing at TT's. The Flo has been playing music together for the better part of 6 years, The Flo has continued to evolve as a band. We cover all styles and genres of music and can be best described as upbeat, high-energy rock music. Their set will include songs off their new EP "Dulcet Freedom".

Hail Plankton & Horcrux Show Review!

Last night at McGann's, we had two stellar bands rock out with hour long sets each. Playing to an excited crowd, Hail Plankton took the stage first and delivered a tight set featuring songs like Hermit King and Special Treasure.

Andy, Pete, and Matt were phenomenal and did their city of Boston proud destroying the stage with deadly riffs that left us wanting more.


Horcrux took the stage next. Hail Plankton was a tough act to follow but Horcrux rose to the occasion with high energy and an awesome setlist.

And just when we thought the show couldn't get any better, Horcrux surprised us all with an breathtaking metal rendition of "Paparazzi".


We've got more awesome live local music coming your way this weekend at our favorite venue, McGann's. Headlining TONIGHT (July 9) is Milquetoast & Company playing our Hot Summer Sun Rock Out show. Straight out of Boston, Milquetoast & Co. has been described by the Boston Pheonix as "Angular, high-intensity Americana". Tickets are $8 at the door, but you can get yours cheaper here !

Dadfight & The IZA Show Review

Both Dadfight and The IZA took the stage last night at McGann's with The Black Ayahuasca and absolutely rocked our faces off. There were guitars smashing into cymbals, slipping and sliding on stage, and just overall awesomeness.

The Inevitable Zombie Apocalypse brought so much energy to the stage. Dan jumped up on amps, hair flying and accidentally unplugged things left and right with an epic powerslide... all while keeping the music tight as ever.


Dadfight ended the evening with style as Vlad busted out his shiny new Jaguar and that guitar was just as stunning as their sound. Earlier in the day, both bands played live on The Boston Local Music Show on UnregularRadio.com hosted by F Nice's finest, Dex Ter and DAve Crespo.

The Boston Local Music Show's First Airing

Today was the first airing of The Boston Local Music Show, hosted by none other than Dex Muthafukin Ter. The show is a new fixture on UnregularRadio.com, Thursdays from 1-4pm. It is sponsored by F Nice Records and Unregular Radio, but don't worry because as we all know there is no telling Dex what to do or say.

The Boston Local Music Show focuses on local music acts; fucking duh. Boston has so many great artists, and with the current sorry state of the scene it's hard for any local Boston band to get the exposure they deserve. Dex was accompanied by Dave Crespo, best know as the latin head of the Boston local band DCAP, and they definitely did the scene some justice.

Anyone who listened to the show knows that there were some technical difficulties involving Dex's vocal feed which were unable to be resolved in the 3 hour show. Resident ponderer Mr. Lax speculates that the issues have to do with how fantastically unique Dex's voice is and the simple fact that the internet was not ready for it.

Nonetheless there were over 35 fantastic songs played, all featuring local arists, and only a few of which you could ever get a chance to hear on any "mainstream" station. Over the 3 hours there was such a great range of excellent music played that I think everyone listening heard something that they hadn't before but really liked.

Tomorrow night (Friday January 8th 2010) we will again be working with Unregular Radio to bring you the show at McGann's show streaming live. So if for some reason you can't make it to that show, which will be a supertastic rocksplosion, you can listen to it on unregularradio.com.

Don't Call The Bartender A Bitch

The lesson of last night's show at McGann's is: When the bartender tells you to wait outside until your set, you probably shouldn't call her a bitch or the towering bouncer, who happens to be her boyfriend, will throw your ass out before you even set foot on the stage.

After that we all had a laugh about how much it sucked to be 19, and the headliner Kuuluuko opened up for themselves. Plenty of fun was had and only some of it at that dude's expense.

Anyway, today at 1pm Dex will be live on Unregular Radio doing the first of his new weekly Boston Local Music radio show. He put together some really fantastic local music from many genres and the show is going to be great.

The No Contracts Needed Rompetition is a two-round band battle in February and March. Prizes include studio recording time, cd duplication, and other serious musician goodies.

F Nice has a great weekend at McGanns Pub

This weekend, the folks at F Nice Records partied it up at McGanns Pub (197 Portland st.) and can't wait for more. Saturday we rolled up in full force with a bunch of F Nice fans and enjoyed the musical stylings of F Nice favorites Pray For Polanski, Kick Drum, and Cars On Mars. All three of these bands played with a fire that got everyone off their seats and on to the dance floor. There was even a good amount of people strolling in off the streets, as if called in by the pied piper. Despite how late it got, the whole crowd demanded more music from the bands, but sadly we had to go home.

Sunday night, though a little calmer, was still extremely fun. Mary's Ghost started off with an excellent set. Then the Turkeys came on stage. Even with a light crowd, the Turkeys screamed and thrashed their hearts out. I was tempted to start a mosh pit by myself, even though I am sure the band would have joined in. Sneak Peek at New The Yer Moms Shirt

Alrighty folks, here it is. A new The Yer Moms shirt for their reunion / farwell show this Friday the 11th at McGann's Pub in downtown Boston.

These will be available at the show only and in limited quantity. Music starts at 9 and we expect to already be sold out by then. A special shirt for a special night because not all good things can last forever.

Whether you get a shirt or not, the whole night is going to be crazy entertainment with plenty of Narragansett beer to be drank.

The show involves many very special guests using a range of instruments which rivial a marching band. Supposedly The Yer Moms entire catalog will be performed, but that is just a rumor circling the Boston underground. Even if the word turns out false you can be sure all the fan favorites such as "30% Approval Rating" "$5 Blowjob" "I'm Not A Liberal" and "The Pescetarian Song" will be heard as well as some early songs you may not even know exist.

In addition to The Yer Moms, the night's music will feature the Sommerville Symphony Orchestra, Swell, and Iceberg Young and Tea Musket.

McGann's Pub is right by North Station in downtown Boston. The Yer Moms have practially rocked this place down before and this Friday September 11th will be a performance for the history books.

We are real proud to have the people from Narragansett beer helping us out on this show, so make sure ya tip a can to em while you're down there too. "You buy a case, they'll build a brewery"

Pray For Polanski Ripping Up The East Coast

Pray For Polanski's tour of the east cost is going strong. The have dropped their rock on New York, Philidelphia, Baltimore, and now Washington D.C. and as always its was received with great love.

PFP brought on tour with them a whole bag of great fun including both CDs and Download Cards of their new album as well as a new shirt featuring a skeleton farting ghosts. The image for the new Pray for Polanski t-shirts can be seen here and is another instant classic in their "pray card" design line.

Still left on the tour is Asheville NC, Birmingham AL, another show in Baltimore MD, two in New York City.

If you havn't caught PFP on their tour yet check out Pray for Polanski on Facebook for tour dates, and don't forget to become a fan and sign up for the mailing list so you don't miss future events. If you have already seen them consider yourself blessed, and come be a Facebook fan anyway.
